Freshly Made Sketches 478

Today’s cards were created for Freshly Made Sketches. The wonderful thing was that the only new materials used today was the card bases! I decided to use the flower stencil as the focal point for the card and distress oxides for the colour. Afterwards I used translucent texture paste on one card and Icicle Stickles on the other card.

Materials used:
Stencil: Stencil Pack 1
Stamps: Love So Sweet
Embellishments: Rhinestones
Mixed Media: Icicle Stickles, Palette Knife, Translucent Texture Paste

Blue Belle Butterflies

Butterflies and more butterflies! I just can’t seem to stop reaching for these stamps to create with theses days. I have enjoyed experimenting with different papers, inks and techniques to create these cards.
This card was created for the Festive Friday Challenge FF0080. The three elements I chose to use were blue, butterflies and ribbon. I used the Layered Floral Background Thin Cut on both sides of Blue Belle Cardstock and Blue Belle Glitter Paper in between. I then adhered the ribbon before gluing it to the card (this I have learned the hard way - several times!) The butterfly is from the Stamp of the Month - Winged Masterpiece, which I have used (see previous posts) to create several cards. I stamped the butterfly with Blue Belle ink and used White Opal Liquid Pearls on the centers of the flowers. I fussy cut the butterfly out and glued the body onto the card.

Materials used:
Embellishments: White Opal Liquid Pearls
Adhesives: white glue, Tombow Permanent Adhesive

This card came about by happenstance. Had the Blue Belle paper out from the previous card, had the scalloped circle done for another card challenge, but it wasn’t looking just right on that card, and I had butterflies on the brain. So what to do?  Color My Heart Color Challenge Challenge #437 is a 3-2-1 Challenge. So I used Blue Belle Cardstock and Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Broken China Distress Oxides to create the other blended colours. For the neutrals I used Daisy White cardstock and Black Ink, and for the metallics I used the Blue Belle Loose Sequins. The butterfly background was stamped with the two butterflies in Versamark and then embossed with white embossing powder. I then used the Distressed Oxide Inks to create the coloured background. I cut two pieces of Blue Belle and used the Fancy Border thin cut on an angle for the top and bottom and popped the scalloped circle up with leftover foam squares. I added some of the sequins for a little bit of shimmer.

Materials Used:
Distressed Oxides: Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Broken China, Mini Ink Blending Tool
Stamps: Every Thank You, Love So Sweet
Embellishments: Blue Belle Loose Sequins
Embossing: Versamark Ink Pad, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Winged Masterpiece

I had a chance to experiment with a technique I saw demonstrated by Melissa Johnson using alcohol markers on vellum. I used gold embossing powder on the dragonfly stamp and  I was pleased with how it turned out. So now I had a dragonfly, but what to do with it.
Then I saw the card challenge at Heart 2 Heart Challenges where the colour challenge this week is gold and I knew just what to do. I used Distressed Oxides to create the background and matted it on a second background of gold. All it needed then was a few embellishments and it was done.

Materials Used:
Embossing Supplies: Princess Gold Embossing Powder, Versamark, heat tool
Embellishments: gems

Double Trouble Challenge #79 and Three Room Studio Saturday Challenge

This card was created for the Double Trouble Challenge and Three Room Studio Saturday Challenge (how lucky was that????) This week’s challenge was to include something magical (unicorn, gnome, mermaid)  for the Double Trouble Challenge so I knew I had just the stamp for the challenge. It also allowed me to play with some Distressed Oxide Inks (Ink blending is the challenge at Three Room Studio Saturday) to create my background and frame. Then I thought, this might make a great shaker card and voila, another card completed. I then realized that by putting a frame around the card qualified the card for the Twisted Sister Challenge at Dies R Us Challenge #165.

Materials Used:

Stamps: Make Waves - Scrapbooking
Inks: Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink, Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Ink, Momento Black Ink
Markers: Alcohol Markers
Card & Envelope: White Card & Envelope
Embellishments: Glitter
